Built as a hunting lodge in the 1890s, Heddon’s Gate occupies a secluded, south-west facing position in its own woodland. The front terraces and lawns can be sun traps on a sunny afternoon, at any time of year. It is an utterly tranquil setting. Here, it is easy to forget the outside world exists. The building has been sympathetically extended over the decades. It is now a charming and eccentric fusion of different ages and styles, and this is reflected in its décor and comfortable furnishings. |

There is generous space to relax. Inside there is a bar, a morning room, a large lounge and a cosy library. The spacious and elegant dining room is the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely breakfast and a delicious dinner. Outside there is comfortable seating, both under cover and in the open. There are also several lawns, including a delightfully hidden one. A stroll around the garden is rewarding, with pre-war planting becoming visible once more as we gradually reclaim the garden from years of neglect. Well-behaved dogs are welcomed here, and appreciate the hotel as much as their owners do. |

We serve two main meals each day, breakfast and dinner. Most of our guests choose half-board (i.e. including dinner). We do not serve lunch at the hotel, but guests can choose to take a nourishing packed lunch with them for the day. A complimentary traditional afternoon tea is served in the hall for our half-board guests. Please help yourself from a selection of teas and home-made savouries, scones and cakes. |
